I was in town for a week, visiting Provo, and I kid you not, I ate there 4 out of the 5 days I was in town. I tried it before when I was in town another time before that. I am caribbean myself, but I'm Belizean. I live in Portland and we don't have much options when it comes to caribbean food. We have a couple Jamaican restaurants, a Belizean inspired restaurant, some cuban, and puerto rican restaurants. I want a Dominican and Trini restaurant in Portland so bad! And an authentic Belizean one would be great too! So it was surprising as heck to find a Dominican restaurant in Provo of all places. And the food is amazing! The flavors are so good! I always, always get the carne guisada ( I always ask for extra gravy), habichuelas, white rice, and a salad..and sometimes i'll get the chicharrones.. This meal is so reminiscent of me growing up and my mom cooking a Belizean dish super similar to this. So flavorful, seasoned just right, and I crave it. It's a real, home - cooked meal, instead of fast food and flavorless food, this was the best. I never got a chance to eat in the restaurant, but the next time I go back to Provo I will. I'm sure the restaurant is nice and looks like they have a buffet style set-up where they serve you. The service is always great, anything extra I ask for; they always send. I wish I had pictures, but I never think about taking pics because I start devouring it immediately lol.. next time I'll try to remember. I can taste the food now and I want some, guess I'll have to make some! :)
The restaurant is clean and the staff was so nice! We walked in and were greeted by a nice man who explained the menu and options. We chose a build your own plate with roasted chicken and plantains, and the bistec encebollado, which is steak with onions, potato salad, rice and beans. Delicious! The steak was thin, don't expect a thick juicy steak, and the roasted chicken was well seasoned but not excessively seasoned. What it comes down to for me is this. It's fresh food, prepared in house as far as I can tell. And I approve food that doesn't come from the restaurant supply, pre cooked, pre seasoned. This is comfort food. Easy to eat, and you don't walk away feeling awful. I'll definitely be back to o try their other options. They have empanadas! All in all, it was a great experience and I'm happy!
My go to comfort food. Keloke is my favorite restaraunt in all of Provo, and i'm not even exaggerating.
If I were to list the top restaurants in Utah this would be in the top 3. This is a hole in the wall restaurant that really is a hidden gem. The service has always been great both at this location and their previous one. The food tastes homemade and fresh. I fed my entire family well for half what I pay at a fast food restaurant and we enjoyed it way more. I haven't had anything bad here.
Great food, it's hard to get good or any Caribbean food around here. Amazing service they were very kind and made sure to explain if we were hesitant what something was. Will be coming again!
